Ready to jump into the soothing and satisfying world of needle felting? In this beginner-friendly felting workshop, professional multimedia artist Risa Culbertson will teach you three essential felting techniques: needle felting on fabric, over a form, and wool on wool. You’ll have a chance to practice each of these techniques as you create your own felted snack skewers! Risa will show you how to craft a variety of fun, colorful food snacks including cheese cubes, salami slices, and green olives for your skewers.  And, once you get the hang of it, you’ll have time to design and construct your own felted miniature skewer snacks!  Each student will take home one completed felting project, as well as a starter kit of needles, fabric, and other felting supplies to use for future felting projects!

Supplies Needed: None. As part of this class, you will receive one needle felting kit that includes needles, fabric, and other felting supplies to take home.

Instructor Bio: Risa Iwasaki Culbertson is a multimedia artist, illustrator, and owner of Papa Llama; a playful stationery company based out of San Francisco.  She is experienced in a wide variety of mediums including fiber arts, paper, sculpting, illustration, stop-motion animation and more. Specializing in wacky, whimsical, and colorful pieces to brighten up the gloomiest of days, her work is all about being playful as a way to recharge the creative spirit.  Her work can be found in stores nationwide through her stationery company, Papa Llama, galleries, workshops, immersive installation in Dallas, TX, as well as The Neighborhood Appreciation Cards with Chronicle Books.
