Intro to Indigo & Shibori Dyeing
Monday, September 16th @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
$72Do you want to enter the world of indigo dyeing and shibori dreams? Come and learn the beautiful, ancient Japanese resist-dyeing technique known as Shibori. In this class, we will teach you the fundamentals of creating an indigo vat using pre-reduced indigo crystals. Next, you will explore Shibori techniques to produce those unique patterns for dyeing natural fibers. By using folded, clamped, tied, and bound resist techniques, you’ll discover unexpected tie-dye designs that highlight each method as you create your beautiful indigo pieces! Each student will receive a set of four items chosen from napkins, tea towels, and bandanas, plus their choice of a tote bag or throw pillowcase. You can mix and match these items to create your perfect set!
Supplies Needed: None, all will be provided. Make sure to wear something that you don’t mind getting a little messy in. We have aprons also to protect your clothing.
