Intro to Indigo & Shibori Dyeing
Wednesday, June 21st @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm$72
Do you want to enter the world of indigo dreams? Come and learn the beautiful and ancient Japanese resist-dyeing technique known as Shibori. In this class you will learn the basics of creating an indigo dye-bath using pre-reduced indigo crystals and Shibori techniques to generate unique patterns and designs to dye four rad napkins, tea towels, or bandanas, and your choice of either tote bag or throw pillow case. You will have the option of mixing and matching some of these items as well. Each piece will be unique and unexpected and use four different patterns/ styles, so you’ll learn several styles and methods. You will use folded, clamped, tied, and bound resist techniques to create your beautiful indigo pieces.
Supplies Needed: None, all will be provided. Make sure to wear something that you don’t mind getting a little messy in. We have aprons also to protect your clothing.
