Class Description Sewing Bootcamp

In our most popular beginner sewing class, we cover all elements of Sewing 101, add in some advanced skills, and include a few fun projects to help you get some practice! Learn basic sewing skills including how to cut fabric, use a simple pattern, perform a few different stitches, and understand the ins and outs of fabric, fabric grain, selvedge, etc. You will also learn how to operate a sewing machine.

You will walk out having finished several simple projects including drawstrings, pockets, buttonholes, buttons, hidden zippers, box corners, and finally, a tote bag! It is a great, simple first project that won’t terrify you! All of these are handy sewing skills for basic garment construction, bag making, and a bunch of other projects! This is an intensive class that will last all day with a 30-minute lunch break, so show up alert and leave the hangovers at home. After all, this is bootcamp!

Supplies Needed: None. We supply all fabric. You’ll be using a simple Janome 2212. Please do not bring your own machine. Also, we take a quick break for lunch in the afternoon, so we recommend bringing a lunch or grabbing something quick at Haight Street Market/Gus’s.
