This magical trend of hanging plants and string-bound Japanese moss balls is pretty hard not to crush on. For you bonsai newbies, kokedama is a style of Japanese Bonsai where the plant’s root system is actually wrapped in sphagnum moss and string. These little (and not so little) moss ball bundles of joy are a ton of fun to design and construct. They will quickly become your new creative obsession as you experiment with getting different houseplants, succulents, and even herbs into the kokedama bonsai mix!
In this class, you will learn how to assemble your kokedama plant and moss ball using string to bind it together. You will take a crack at constructing two kokedama moss ball projects (one small and one medium). You’ll receive instruction on proper plant care as well as recommendations on which “hard to kill” houseplants and succulents to use so that your kokedama creations are guaranteed a long and happy life! You will leave with two kokedama moss balls of your making, as well as a plant care guide and supplies list so that you can keep adding on to your hanging kokedama plants at home!
Supplies Needed: None. We will supply all plants, string, moss, and other materials for your kokedama projects.
