In Sewing 101: Denim Woodland Dopp Kit, learn the basics of using a sewing machine as we walk you through how to cut and sew up this handy denim travel bag to hold all of your toiletry essentials. This class is terrific for complete beginners as well as experienced sewers who are looking for a fun, new project! Each bag measures approximately 9″ L x 4″ W x 4.5″ D, offers premium leather tabs and zipper pull, and comes in one of two denim washes to choose from – medium, and light. (Oh, and did we mention that the denim is premium Levi’s denim cut straight from the roll? Thank you, Levi’s!!) You’ll learn the fundamentals of operating a sewing machine, cutting fabric from a pattern, sewing basic stitches, attaching a zipper, and adding rivets. You will leave with one finished denim dopp kit and pattern, as well as the confidence to continue sewing on your own. This is a stand alone class, so feel free to take our Sewing Bootcamp or other sewing classes afterwards to continue honing your craft!
Supplies Needed: None. We supply all fabric, leather, hardware, and the machines. We will be using the popular Klum House Woodland Dopp Kit pattern for this project. (More information on this design may be found here on the Klum House site.) Also, you will be using a simple Janome 2212, which is great for learning and skills can easily transfer to other machines. Please don’t bring your own machine.
