Start Choppin’ Woodworking: DIY Wooden Coffee Table Project (UPPER HAIGHT LOCATION) $225

The Start Choppin’ Woodworking series is a class series designed to give beginners a place to start their exploration of the world of wood working. In each class, we focus on using hand tools and power tools that are accessible, affordable, and can (mostly) fit in your home. Each class will complete a project that allows you to use these tools, practice and improve your new woodworking skills, and return to your hacienda with a fantastic new furniture piece!

THE PROJECT: Coffee Table Project
In this class, you will make a beautiful two-tone coffee table, constructed of top quality maple wood for the table top and alder wood for the legs. You will have the option of staining the legs in class. Each table measures approximately 24" Width X 45" Length X 18" Height, and is medium weight. Each student will leave with one coffee table, stain (if applicable) and a resource guide that covers the tools, concepts, and recommendations covered in the class.

- general safety procedures
- cutting with a compound miter saw
- using wood glue and clamps to do a "glue-up"
- assembling wood pieces with a nail gun and jigs
- using a power drill with countersink bits
- sanding using sandpaper and a power sander
- staining and sealing wood properly

PLEASE NOTE: This class is great for total beginners with zero woodworking experience, as well as intermediates who simply like the project and/or feel a little rusty and want to get back into the craft. Our classes are more lo-fi and intended to feel accessible to anyone with an interest in the subject and desire to learn!

Supplies Needed: None. You will be working in an environment with sawdust and wood stain, so please dress accordingly. Do not wear open toe shoes or sandals. Boots or tennis shoes are recommended. We will supply gloves, goggles, dust masks, and aprons as necessary.
