Build It Yourself: Wooden Ladder (UPPER HAIGHT LOCATION) $62
wooden

PLEASE NOTE: THIS CLASS TAKES PLACE AT WORKSHOPSF’S SECOND LOCATION IN UPPER HAIGHT AT 1310 HAIGHT STREET b/w CENTRAL AND MASONIC.

In this class, professional installation artist Corinne DiTullio will teach you to measure, cut, assemble, and stain your own decorative wooden ladder! Perfect for holding blankets, hanging plant life, or just using for decoration in your apartment, these wooden ladders are perfect accents to any room in your home. Corinne will demonstrate how to properly use power drills and bits, measuring tools, saws, and jigs to perfectly cut and assemble your ladder. After assembly, you’ll finish by sanding and staining your ladder. You will have several color options for stain, and may choose either a 4’ or 5’ ladder. Each student will leave with one completed ladder and an understanding of basic woodworking skills and tools necessary to complete future building projects!

TOOLS & SKILLS
- general safety procedures
- using hand saws and mitre blocks to cut wood
- using a power drill and identifying different drill bits
- sanding, staining, and finishing the wood

PLEASE NOTE: This class is great for total beginners with zero woodworking experience, as well as intermediates who simply like the project and/or feel a little rusty and want to get back into the craft. Our classes are more lo-fi and intended to be accessible to anyone with an interest in the subject and desire to learn!

Supplies Needed: None. All wood and building materials for this project are included. Please do not wear open toe shoes or sandals (we suggest tennis shoes or boots). We will supply gloves, goggles, dust masks, and aprons as necessary. Feel free to bring in any objects that you would like to display, as this will help with deciding how to arrange your shelves and dowels.

Instructor Bio: Corinne DiTullio is a San Francisco based designer and installation artist who holds a bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre / Theatre Design and Technology from Cal Poly Pomona. After earning her degree, she discovered her passion for carpentry while building custom retail fixtures, and currently designs and constructs display art installations and window displays for Marine Layer.
