Denim Customization - Learn To Distress, Customize, And Decorate Your Denim Using Japanese Boro And Sashiko Techniques (LEVI’S® STORE MARKET STREET) $25

PLEASE NOTE: This special WorkshopSF class will take place at Levi’s® Store Market Street located at 815 Market Street between 4th and 5th Street.

Have you wanted to learn denim distressing techniques to create your own worn-in look? Have you experienced some denim-envy after seeing those unique Sashiko geometric patterns embroidered onto other denim outfits? Or maybe you want to use Japanese Boro and shibori patching to create your own personalized look? Let us help! In celebration of 501® Day, WorkshopSF is collaborating with Levi’s® to offer a special class on denim customization – allowing you to become the collaborator!

Taught by Alex Lunt, WorkshopSF sewing instructor and owner / head clothing designer for Nettle Studios, this class will teach you a series of techniques to distress, decorate, and customize denim jeans. Alex will show you how to use tools such as razors and scissors to create wear holes and do some mild fading. She will also demonstrate how to use the Japanese art of Boro and Sashiko to add beautiful, decorative stitches, patterns, and patches to your denim. Don’t want (or have) holes in your jeans? Not a problem. These techniques work perfectly to add color pops to the pockets, legs, or hems of brand new denim. Each student, with guidance from the instructor, will get to create their own patch and/or Sashiko patterns. And, both can easily be added on to a new pair of 501® jeans!

We are offering four 2-hour sessions of this class. Links to class tickets for each session are below:
