Bag Making Bootcamp For Beginners: Learn To Construct A Waxed Canvas Travel Bag - ONE TIME ONLY $125
Bag

WorkshopSF is super excited to welcome back one of our favorite Workshop alums Ellie Lum of Klum House from Portland, OR!! She is teaching an exclusive, one-time only workshop on the basics of bag making! In this day-long bootcamp class, you will learn to construct a versatile, durable waxed canvas travel bag that stands up to all the elements, whether you’re traveling the globe or just making your way downtown. You will learn indispensable bag making skills and techniques, such as sewing with heavy fabrics, working with inner linings and interfacing, attaching hardware (swivel snaps, sliders, D-rings, and brads) with industrial tools, constructing pockets, and making cross body straps and bag handles. These new skills can be applied using a home sewing machine, and will prove vital as you embark on future bag making projects!

PLEASE NOTE: While this class is NOT meant as a replacement for our Sewing 101 or Sewing Bootcamp class, you will receive instruction on how to use a home sewing machine, as well as specific sewing techniques as they apply to this sort of bag making. No prior sewing experience is required.

Klum House - McKenna Waxed Canvas Tote Maker Kit: For this bag making class, we are excited to partner with Klum House, a Portland-based business that hosts DIY sewing workshops and produces handcrafted bags as well as awesome waxed canvas beginner bag sewing kits! As part of this class, you will receive a McKenna Waxed Canvas Tote Maker Kit. For this class, we will have two colors available: black with black and white lining, and gray with gray lining. For more information about Klum House and photos of this kit, please visit: https://www.klumhouse.com/maker-kits/mckenna-waxed-canvas-tote-maker-kit.  Also, be aware that these kits retail for $100+ online, and include top notch materials.  We apologize for any sticker shock on the class price, but most of the cost goes towards the bag’s premium waxed canvas, leather, and brass hardware. Believe us, the material quality is worth it!
